I was wondering if anyone could recommend a torque wrench for the bike? I've got some vouchers for Amazon and will only be able to get a cheapish one. I think I'll need a 3/8" drive with about 5-25Nm torque or so. Can anyone recommend a good brand? It would come in handy for the car too.
I recently purchased the following torque wrench from Amazon:
Norbar 3/8-inch Torque Wrench Ratchet with Adjustable Dual Scale
This is a high quality compact 5-50Nm torque wrench with reverse ratchet and comes with a calibration certificate. Its been great to use however please be aware that for certain items you will need a torque greater than 50 Nm for such items as the rear axle nut (103 Nm) and front sprocket nut. Be very wary of cheap options....they are inaccurate and unreliable.......bite the bullet and spend a little more!

Yeah I noticed the higher range for the axle when I was checking the torque figures. I know, cheap isn't great but I've got so much to get that I'll be waiting forever to save up for a top quality one. Unfortunately I'll only have between £30-50. Thanks for the recommendation.
Is the minimum ground clearance of 305mm( I think) for the US bike the same in the UK? I've seen an MX stand for sale with lowest setting 300mm. Its too cold to go out and measure in the garage! The bike is the original height, I think, 2005 UK TTR.
My 1998 OE has approx 280mm of ground clearance. The lowest MX stand I could get ( a H section stand....not a flat board)was some 320mm off the floor at its lowest (raising to 420mm)......this height problem was easily overcome by first pushing the bike onto two shorts lengths of approx 60mm thick timber, slipping the stand underneath and raising....it was so easy! I reckon a 305mm stand would be fine for your year of bike.
As regards a torque wrench, if you are on a real budget my advice would be to buy the best quality one you can get for low ranges with your money.....its in the smaller diameters of studs/bolts you can most easily cause damage. A 5-50 Nm is ideal in these conditions. The sprocket and axle nuts both have retaining tab washers or split pin safety backups so these can be torqued to the 50 Nm setting and 'given a bit more' provided not using an extension bar until they feel 'right tight' without the risk of stripping etc

Thanks very much. It seemed a bit tight with only a few mill clearance but as you say, I can raise the bike on some wood and put the lift under easily enough.
I might just save a few moreBob for the wrench and get the stand just now.
