Lowering front forks
Permalink

Hey I have another question about my new bike

Love every aspect of it except the turning. It's got a kouba lowering link in it. Suits me great height wise. Dropped rear by 50mm (I believe)

It doesnt seem to turn as quick as my last bike. Assuming because the rear has been lowered. Is 25mm the max I can drop the front end before I run the danger of touching the tyre to the inside of the front guard when bottoming out?  Thanks again for any advice

Front has already lowered around 10mm through the triple clamps

The book says that both front and rear suspensions both travel through about 12 inches (300 mm). smile

So - as long as the distance between tyre and mudguard is no less than 12 inches, there should be sufficient clearance. confuse

BUT - as the cook has often said, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating."

So - try it and report back. wink

Hey thanks for that.

I think? Aus models have different springs to euro models? Well so Internet seems to suggest.

As I thought front and rear had 280mm of travel. Sidetrack magazine article I found on this forum says that. But I didn't get the manual for my bike when I bought it.

Just the US one I downloaded

Kouba website suggest not lowering by more than around 20mm. My front wheel has 305mm (with no adjustment) of clearance and now 285mm as I've lowered it a wisker under 20mm

Hopefully full travel is 280mm............ : )

Also set the rear sag and has come up 7mm in the back. So should be feeling a bit tighter on the tracks.

Will see how it goes!
