I know this is slightly off your thread topic but how about trying to to find the different models / colour schemes. As far as I am aware the newer blue ttr colour schemes are roughly all the same but on the older ones there is possibly a few rare examples around as found with the black ttr. A new thread could possibly be started or incorporated in this one and a picture gallery showing off each model?
Took domski's advice & have made a new thread for this. It is going to be a long process but if anyone can help it would be good. When I first started I thought Brian had all the metal tank TTRs covered but we seem to have lost a lot of TTR-250 history I am going try restore history as best I can.
If anyone has a model with the exact title as any models that are missing please upload a pic..
OE 93 Dark Blue 4GY1 OE 93 Purple 4GY1 OE 95 Dark Blue 4RR1
OE 95 Red 4RR1 OE 97 Black 4RR2 OE 97 Dark Blue 4RR2
Raid 94 Dark Blue 4GY3 Raid 94 Purple 4GY3 Raid 95 Dark Blue 4GY5
Raid 95 Dark Green 4GY5 Raid 96 Dark Blue 4WA1 Raid 96 Dark Green 4WA1
It has become apparent that my model is a 2000 Yamaha TT-R250M 4px6
YEAHAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
Thanks all that helped
I need this thread.....

Ok I think this is correct 1994/1995 ttr250 4rr1
I think you are right Adam - see here if you are on Facebook
I am pretty sure that I have nailed all the OE and Raid models and years here Jarrah - are you able to see the page?
I confess to not having spent time on identifying the blue models but the following pic may help to show owners their model details:
Model Identification Model Identification for Australian Released Motorcycles: Because of the ADR rules, the Build Date on the VIN plate on the steering head will often NOT show the correct model year. The VIN plate is added at the factory, not in Australia, so it can be months before the bike is packed, shipped, warehoused and then placed on the Dealer floor.
The 10th number a long from the left of the 17 digit vin is the year. EG: 2 is 2002
Note: Before 2001 the 10th number was a letters EG: 1999 model will be a X and a 1998 model will be a W
Most manufacturers release their bikes BEFORE the Model year. It is normal to find (say) a 2004 model with a 10/2003 build date. Soooo! If you are not sure, please ask!!
This can be particularly important for older bikes if you want to get the correct cable or bearing....
Model Identification for Motorcycles released outside Australia: Quite often there are subtle differences between the models released in different markets. In general, the basic model code will be the same, but may vary on details such as carburation and running gear such as lights, indicators and guards. For example, a model from Japan will usually include pre heaters in the carby and may be jetted differently to account for the octane rating of the fuel in a local market.
It has been suggested that, from the year 2000, the 10th digit denotes year of manufacture but that doesn't always seem to work. If true my "2002" TTR was manufactured 2 years before it was registered! See the table below:
Here is some info from a 1997 Parts Catalogue which starts from the first 4GY1 model. The frame number details might help owners whose TTR has been "altered" from the original:
Jarrah - I have emailed Yamaha UK Customer Services asking for the full list. Lets see if they respond. It might be worth you doing the same to Yamaha Australia?
And someone in the USA doing the same to Yamaha USA.
Barra's photos weren't directly loaded up to the forum and were instead links to a photo hosting site. Sadly when a member subscription to such a site lapses all the links break
I used to use Webshots as a freebee and, after being sucked in, they introduced charges. Being a tight git, I didn't play ball and all my Webshot photos were lost.
When I come across any of my old posts where this has happened, I try and find the original photo on my PC and upload it to repair the post.
Not sure if this is of any use but I know it's correct for my TTR, numbers from the pre delivery & frame. Blue plastic tank & black frame delivered to Australia build date 2011, 1st rego 2013
