Hi chaps. wondering if there is a reason you recommend replacing the top bearing with a different type? (poly la la thingy)

I can see from the pics its a cracking alterative,

but I live close to a bearing shop and was wondering if there is a reason people arnt just putting in a like for like bearing ? (roller bearing I think it is)

The reason that people use the polyurethane bushes is that the original swivel bush is VERY expensive and tends to wear out quickly.

I would not try to use a roller bearing (or any bearing) as this will be worn before you get more than 50m down a rough lane/trail. Bearings are not designed to take that much load and will not last!

No I wasn't going to use anything different than original or the polyurethane ( just couldn't remember the name for the original)

Is it just because of the expense then ?

No, as mentioned the original swivel bush tends to wear out quicker than the polyurethane type and the original is prone to squeaking.
