Had a real treat in Southwest VA this weekend, sunny and temps near 60*F. What a difference a year makes. Last year two days before Halloween we had a foot of snow. Anyway, it was a good day for a ride. My son and I dropped trailer at a newly opened trail system that's close to home. It's called the Spearhead Trails and it's lived up to it's fierce, albeit brief, reputation as a tough beast to tame. Too tight and too much elevation change for a hare scramble and so much elevation change that a goat would struggle for footing.
Anyway, gave Ol'Blue a good work out today. The more time I put on the TTR, the more I am impressed with this simple air cooled anachronism. Blue took everything I threw at her, mud up to the axel, water over the gearbox and a pounding on the suspension with step downs and log hopping. The bike also handled the rip rap and smooth rocks well. I'm running a Bridgestone 404 and was a bit concerned about the hard pack, but it passed all the tests today.
On today's ride, my boy came with me on his TTR 125. I know my son is my son, but these two bikes can not share the same DNA. The 250 and 125 are nothing alike.
