Brian has a pair of cases for sale http://www.totallyttrs.com/Used_parts/ only £40.

It would cost that and more to have yours repaired.

I already know my new ttr needs a sprag clutch and a top end rebuild as it smokes but after washing it for the first time (it was dirty when i bought it) i found a big crack in both the RH crank case and clutch cover which have been repaired with tiger seal no (4 inch half moon shape crack in the crankcase looks like they have tried to remove clutch cover without removing the front bolt ! and would fall out if i took the clutch cover off) they could possibly be welded but as they are at the front where stones will hit them i wouldnt be happy rebuilding it when it could possibly loose oil again

The bike has a frame number but no log book so it will probobly never be on the road so wont be worth that much repaired

Its a 4gy open enduro in pretty good nick apart from the engine so my question is would i be better off cutting my losses and get another bike and break this one for parts to keep a few other bikes running (im ready for people to say fix it but im on a budget)

Is there a market for the parts and how much could i get realisticly for the following ?

-Pair of purple wheels in very good used condition with half worn roag legal enduro tyres or could go without tyres

-Alloy swing arm

-Rear shock

-Shock linkage

-Front forks with torn gaitors

-OE tank in good nick slight surface rust at bottom

-Original digital speedo (didnt register speed but did everything else so prob the magnetic sensor but sold untested)

-Used white plastics

-Calipers

-I would break the engine for parts it runs no knocks but smokey ,starter and secondary gears are good sprag clutch gone ,assume head and barrel need work, bottom end and gearbox good apart from the damage on th RH side outer cases or complete engine

Plus anything else ive missed as its a complete bike front pipe is good but rear exhaust has been butchered

Iv wanted a ttr for a while so want this to work just serves me right for buying a cheap one no

If this is in the wrong section please move it

Thanks

The cost of repairing will roughly be the same as buying a second hand engine (unless you find a cheap one). The good thing about repairing the engine that you have, is that you can buy the parts slowly so you do not have to fork out a large amount of cash at once. Another good point would be that you can be sure that it will last for years.

A ttr250 is always worth repairing, no matter how bad it seems. wink

£40 seems a bargin i saw a pair on ebay for £100 !

I was more in favour of breaking it and getting another bike as ive seen a couple of tidy ones go for around £800 but you have a point about rebuilding mine as it should be reliable for years
