Well nothing like a naughty few hours in the garage.
I have lubricated my rear end
Greased my nipples
and ended with a good bounce on the springs
The end result to all this foolery is I think my ring needs tightening
Now here is what really happened, I greased my spindles, got the grease gun out and filled the zurks that's fitted all over the bike. Then had a bit of a bounce on the seat, the rear end feels soft and is wound up to the hardest setting on the dial.
So the question is do I need to remove the shock to adjust the rings (preload) or can it be done in situ ? 1993 OE

Yes you can but you will have to remove the side panel and battery
If you are around 75 / 80 kgs the standard springing will give you the correct sag by playing with the pre-load rings...
If you are heavyer or lighter... you will need to re-spring if yer fussy..
You should have no more than 20mm of pre-load on the rear spring... If you have to wined it more than 20mm it's to soft
for your weight...
the compression damping nob will stiffen the suspension but only momentarily till the gas pressure in the shock body
& resevoir equalize... you will not noitce it sitting on the bike... the shock has to compress quickly for the pressures
in the shock & resevoir to be come unequal... It's that higher pressure in the shock body that gives the compression damping
& how fast the body & resevoir equailze is how the compression damping is increased or decreased...
I can get at the rings on mine... but I use a long punch & hammer
Battery will be removed and the suspension set up for my feather weight stats (not saying how fat) a new firmer spring might have to be on the post xmas wish list, but at the same time I am sure there is a hiss of air coming from the shock whenever compressed so one evil eye will be on ebay at all times.
Off hand does any body know if the rear shock is exclusive to the ttr 250 or if its been in other models ?
