Just a thought really. Most magazines compere the ttr250 with a WR ect . But I ride with chaps on KTMs KLXs and so on. Whilst out this weekend I couldn't make a climb for love nor money (they all did)and a mate who is a damn good rider couldn't either (on my bike). So I had to ride a long way round After much debate we presumed it was because my TTR is a little soft sprung.
What do you reackon is yours to soft for a bit of hardcore action ????
Was your gearing as low as the other bikes. (Although your mate tried on the TTR , ) was your rear tyre as good as theirs, or was the tyre knobbys full of mud after failed attempts. When it comes to hill climbs i think horsepower does matter but were the other bikes 450s , wish i was in my 20s id get my ttr up any hill a wr250 would. Be great to have a hill climb comp. A WR250 ., A TTR250. Both same gearing and same quality rear tyre. Maybe the WR may win if timed , but i reackon the TTR would make the climb.

That is not a problem that I have after using 10W (SAE10) fork oil instead of the usual 5W (SAE5). Before the forks were too soft for jumps or staying stable on the rough stuff. It gives a better fork action for my weight and riding style. The extensive modifications (excluding suspension) that I have done would play some part in getting up steep hills at ease though.
Not the hardest trail that I have ridden but still quite technical (Pictures as requested)..
Landing a jump.
From the top of the mountains..
Some hard core mud..
Washing the bike ...
A vid of one of the very first times I took my TTR trail riding...
Here is a vid from awhile ago of the good section of the trails (sorry, forgot to clean the camera case) ...
Hope you enjoyed them!

The TTR dose battle to put power on the ground... the rear shock has all the bells & whistle nobs..
But it's still a very basic shock...
Couple years ago I use to ride a Gas Gas EC200 & EC300... the suspension on them is soft but they really hook up..
The Sachs & Ohlins shocks could put the power on the ground... the wheel has to stay in contact with the dirt &
thats what the TTR's shock can't do...
Hard suspension is great for a MX track with flowing bumps & big jumps... but it just don't work over tree roots /
rocks / river beds / ruts etc..
I have my sags set at 95mm rear & 105mm front... not quit right .. The closest the standard springing will
allow for my weight.. I was after 90mm front & rear...
The TTR is a budget bike... A very fine budget bike ...
Only the XT250 in the Yamaha line up is below the TTR spec wise...
But I do like the TTR... "old age I quess"
So yer main prob is you are loseing so much drive... wheel hop..
Jarrah those are some cracking vids and pics cheers, however there seems to be some large random rocks just lying round in flat fields ????? (second vid 3.15mins in)
Petenz that is some wise words, I will have a play round with the standard shock for now then. Because the log hopping / river crossing side of the TTR is so enjoyable :)
I am pretty biased but I used to love doing enduros on my TTR OE.
I am not a skilled rider but the TTR always performed well and I was never at the bottom of the results. My recollection is that the suspension worked well enough and never spat me off or failed me on any of the scary big climbs that many other riders struggled on. Also, no DNFs with the TTR

Keep That Hardcore action coming !!!!!
Thanks hp :thumbsup;
I did mention that the second vid is a ''good'' section of the trail. It's not all that hardcore but I would like to see most keep up at that pace.

Try fighting a 170kg XT660R with 22L of fuel over this... The Awakino challenge section of the DB1K... Is 4hrs of a 12hour plus day on the bike... youtu.be/QwpJDWY6jFM
Motel hill. (if you dont make it back up your sleeping there tonight ) Good to see hill climbs have been around for years and will be for many years to come. It would be great to see a TTR in this position.
