bent exaust valve

oops Ive got a bent exhaust valve, Help !!! after being away for a while I finally got round to fitting my starter motor, wonderful  worked a treat bike fired up then died, pressed starter again, starter working engine isn't, plug out check compression, absolutely none, took valve cover off and checked cam alignment way out, all I can put it down to is when I took cam tensioner off the chain being loose had jumped a tooth, anyway with the help from the wonderful forums how to's and pics I got the head off I also took barrel off as I had a slight oil leak from there, where do I get valves from ? `HELP

Wow - bad luck grandad cry

If you get stuck  then I always keep a small stock of both inlet and exhaust valves. Email here if you want a quote.

I would would just like to sing the praise of the service of Trish at totally ttr, I emailed her for two new exhaust valves base and head gasket Monday morning and received them Tuesday dinner time,
Now to put it back togeather hopefuly without any more blunders,lol

Adriean click on repairs and maintenance, now click on bottom STICKY ( simple step by step pictorial guides ), when new page opens click on fifth column down, ( tips on removing and replacing cylinder head )

Tork setting when tightening head bolts is the 4 big bolts 40Nm 2 cylinder head nuts one front and one at rear 20Nm and the 2 thin ones 10Nm,

noeyedear Too late for photos its nearly back togeather, but in a way I'm glad I had to strip it down because I found and rectified another miner fault, While I was talking the head bolts down the whole engine moved so I checked th engine to frame bolts,they were all loose and the rear one had the bottom bolt missing, no wonder it felt rough when accellerating from low speeds in a gear too high.

Shame I have to replace bent valves and some pictures are always good. Any tips/tricks you picked up while doing the valves. Adrian

Everything Back together, pressed the butten and she started first time, wow what a difference she runs as sweet as a nut, now with the engine bolts tight theres no vibration, after grinding new exhaust and old inlet valve in cleaning the carbon out of the exhaust ports and pollishing we are on full compression, seems to have a lot more grunt, all in all its been blessing in diguise Ive lerned a lot about the engine and now know it should be good for quit a few yeas to come, I hope!! weather permitting I will Be out on the fells thursday.
I would like to again thank Brian and his good wife Trish for the rapid service with parts and information, something you dont find verry often these days,

Here's a photo of my ttr tonight at Sunderland point near Heysham Lancs, as reported earlier ran like a dream, roll on thursday evening, going out over salter fell, a 10 mile green lane from Robendale to Slaidburn in the forrest of Bowland

cubber, did you notice the trees in the back ground how they they have grown bent with the constsant southwesterly winds which come in from the Irish sea, as you can see in this picture we are fully exposed to the sea.

Complete with bash plate, frame guards, grab handles and rack - amongst other bits 'n bobs.

I've taken the liberty of putting your pictures into your post rather than as attachments.

The north west of England is only situated where it is to keep the winds and rain off the north east of England. biggrinbiggrin

There is plenty of exposed sand in the Solway for winds (and tides) to have effect.
