An update on my TTR after break-in stage
Permalink

Hello fellow TTR250 owners, greetings from Australia!

I thought I would do a quick update on my TTR for those interested (if anyone is lol). It has now done over 1600 KM had 5 oil changes and is fully run in. All adjustments are out of the way and the mods I have done have OBVIOUSLY made a huge improvement to this bike. I cannot say how much as I have never ridden it standard (I bought it piece by piece) but from the other old 1994 OE I owned, it kicks proverbial ass biggrin

Standard this bike left me wanting more power and a little bored on ''straights'' so I made sure that the next one was ''upgraded''. This has transformed a reliable ''tractor'' into a reliable ''weapon for trails''.  If you are in a country that allows these mods, have no warranty and have the knowledge, I highly suggest that you look into upgrading.

For owners that have not seen it, here is some pics..

Enjoy!

Jarrah

Just the other day, I thought I would take the road with the river crossing home after a bit of exploring by myself. The creek had risen but it did not look too bad so I had a go at crossing it. Turns out it was deeper than expected and the water went quite a way up the fuel tank. It was basically underwater but still running strong. I was so glad when I neared the shore but not so glad when it decided to wheelstand going up the steep embankment out from the water. I let off, it dropped back down but now wanted to go back in for a swim. I gunned the throttle again which sent me into yet another wheelstand but this time I was able to gain ground and get out of the hole that I was in lol.

The TTR250 is such a good bike for water, it takes to it like a fish. smile It even seems to make a good submarine. biggrin I know from this that my snorkel must be working as it should. wink

I love my TTR250 just as much as my WR400 (if not more).

Jarrah

 Thanks Greg

It really does surprise me how good this bike is for water crossing, a few times while crossing creeks with the fuel tank pushing water, I have thought- oh no here we go, but to my surprise the TTR250 just ''plows'' on through like it was a puddle. How does it do that? More proof Yamaha got the TTR250 right. :)

Can't say enough for this AWESOME trail bike.

Jarrah

Really good to see you out enjoying your hard work Jarrah!

The only water-related problems I know of with TTRs is where they have gone completely under with the engine still running confuse

Cheers Brian

I can see how going completely under while running would be no good, the engine would hydro-lock  no Hope that never happens or I may be in the deep end of the pool. :)

I REALLY am enjoying my TTR (you may be able to tell from my posts ;) after all the hard work. I must say it's good to be riding it, rather than it riding me for more parts lol. smile

 Cheers Kris

It is one of Brian's tidy tails, looks like he is out of stock at this present time though. I found this in his store...''TTR250 tail tidy - a compact number plate holder replacement Temporarily out of stock 3 May 2013 - new stock expected any day!''

There has been a huge delay in getting the last lot of bash plates and tail tidies made - very embarrassing for us disbelief

I am told they should be ready for collection on Friday.........

If using the number plate mounting original holes- there is only room for a numberplate illumination LED light at the bottom. I was thinking about mounting the numberplate lower with one bolt at the bottom or using a bracket so there is two holes at the bottom (mounted to the illumination hole using a rubber grommet and collar) so there is room for two other mounting holes for blinkers (optional).

Jarrah.
