Wollongong is a seaside city located in the Illawarra region of New South Wales, Australia. Wollongong lies on the narrow coastal strip between the Illawarra Escarpment and the Pacific Ocean, 82 kilometres south of Sydney.

I have owned my TTR for near 13 years now purchasing it new in 2000 but I have not ridden of started it in 8 years. The reason at the time was because it was just too tall for me and I fell off a few times simply because I could not reach the ground when stopping or trail riding, so I bought a xt 225 which had a more sensible seat height. I also have a  honda CT 110 postie bike which the wife is going to use to learn and get her license on.

I was going to get rid of the TTR and keep the XT untill I stumbled onto this forum. I have now changed my mind and the XT will be going. The reason being the TTR is a better trail bike and can pillion better but also. THERE are LOWERING LINKS available.. I had no Idea about them. Didnt have internet all that time ago also.

My seat has already had a big chunk taken out but the lowering links and bar risers and dropping the forks should do it for me.(awaiting delivery)...I also have some work to do to get it going, the carby is all gummied up and the main jet o-ring disintergrated, the pet**** stuffed etc but I have no doubt I will get some help off this forum. I have already read some very interesting and useful posts.

Hi Paul and welcome to the forum!

You may have seen this thread - http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t52242686/how-low-can-you-go/

If you need any help just ask - lots of willing and experienced owners on here ready to reply. There aren't many TTR issues that between us we haven't faced at one time or another.

And thanks for posting the pics - we like pics wink

Brian

Hey Paul, welcome to the forum

Nice xt225! Here's a suggestion- Sell the postie instead and keep the xt225 :)

I have been to Wollongong about two years ago when I was working for Austar as a salesman. It was nice down that way and the natives (locals) seem to be friendly enough.

It's great to see new Australian members joining so congradulations on that wink

Jarrah

PAUL,

Welcome to the crazy TTR land!
Great bunch of riders here. Hope you find the information you are looking for, if not don't be afraid to hollar out for help.

Lower away if it keeps you on a TTR! Brian has that one covered for sure. MOST people find this bike a bit too high. I thought so too, at first, but after I got some hours on it (and gained enough weight by kicking off Lite Beer), we settled in just finebiggrin

Enjoy!

I would like to keep the xt 225 Jarrah and have the cook ride the trails with me but she keeps showing me pictures she took on her iphone of Little cruisers. Thats the way she wants to go.
Got the new lowering link today. What a difference it made, absolutely brilliant. I cannot believe I have put up with the original height for so long.. The bike now has the stance of a late 70s monoshock, to me anyways. as I have the suspension/ sag whatever its called as soft as it can go as well. Not real springy but having the feet touch the ground when stuck half way up a hill and not just being a crash test dummy is worth it.aww

now for the carby. IMG_0478.JPGIMG_0480.JPG

Hi, Paul.

I also have a 2000 TTR250 (North American) and a 2007 xt225. They're both great little bikes, but after getting the TTR, I mostly use the xt for my daily commute. The xt225 is a pretty good trail bike, but the TTR is better on the trail, while the xt is better on the road, in my opinion.
