Hello, everyone. My name is Tong Kai and I'm from China Sichuan chengdu!! The panda hometown last year I bought a 1996 TTR250 nice to meet you guys in this forum, a problem to want to consult my TTR 100 km fuel consumption of 4.2 litres of what method can reduce fuel consumption.
There is not much you can do to reduce fuel consumption if you 're getting that kind of mpg.
The best thing that I could think of is getting your carb tuned properly, always use a clean air filter & oil filter. Check that you 're not running lean or rich as this is a big factor in obtaining the optimum mpg. Remember; using a larger jet(s) will not always be detrimental to mpg. If the bike is running lean, putting a bigger jet in will actually increase mpg because less fuel will evaporate from a hot, lean condition. If your jet(s) are too large you will be wasting fuel caused by un-burnt fuel particles escaping from the exhaust. Usually you would notice this from symptoms like spluttering, popping in the carb when throttle is let off, un-burnt fuel smell, black spark plug, flat spot(s) etc.. Also, if the carb is not tuned right then this will affect mpg because of a lack of power.
To put your fuel consumption into perspective; I am getting roughly 21 KM's out of 1 liter of fuel (from memory). I honestly do not think that you are using an excessive amount of fuel, but that's not to say it couldn't be a little better
