It's been years since I rode off road and forgot, the lower limit for tyres running without tyre clamps, and typical pressures with clamps for trail riding using AC10's?
Also with trail riding being on/off road, what sort of pressures do you use? I often ride out 30 miles to the trail meet, so is it a good idea to pump them up a bit for longer rides?
I just brought my TTR with it's AC10's but both tyres had slipped, I refitted them ok - all good practice.
I also have a XT660R I took out on my first trail ride for 40 years - big wake up. With no tyre clamps I left the tyres at 30 psi, with very slippery mud I had a problem keeping it up = why I just brought my TTR.
I've never ran without rimlocks, what you call tyre clamps I guess, so can't answer that one.
I run 12 psi front and rear on Dunlop 606 duel sport tyres, they are fairly stiff tyres with the knobs close together and give a smooth ride on road and good grip off road
Here's one here
I also installed 2 rimlocks on the rear wheel and it's never moved a mm even down to 8 psi
I weigh about 90KG with all my gear on
I picked up one of these for $15
only goes up to 15psi as you can see, just what I needed
That should give you some idea
Cheers
Steve
