Your favourite programs for Windows (one for Martyn,Brian,BMSteve,Brindabella :)

Hello to all you TT-R250 & TTR-250 (for the older models) fans out there smile

I kinda figured we have some geeks on this site that we all could learn from. I am no computer teq but i do know the basics. Where i need help is for example: Converting xps files to jpeg. What program do you use (if your a bit geeky)? I have done this in the past but cannot seem to find a suitable program for this now.

Also if everyone can pitch in & tell me what programs are your favourite. Any program that may be usefull that is free or doe'snt cost much & worth paying for.

For example my favourite programs are CcleanerYoutubeconverterRevo for my Contour cam Storyteller , Norton websafe

When i remember more i will upload them.

................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Disclaimer: The programs i use may or may not be safe for you to download. I have tried & tested all programs with no trouble but that's not to say you won't end up with porn pop up on your main screen & groaning noises as it starts up hahaha (seen worse on a mates computer :)

.....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

Your favourite command prompts would be helpfull also. Here are mine...

For flushing the cr@p out of your internet connection....

.................................................................................................................................

C:USERS\COMP NAME> Command: ipconfig /flushdns

Very good one

 ........................................................................................................................................

In elevated mode for Windows 7

This is to fix errors on the selected disk

..........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Sources\X: Command: CHKDSK /F

............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

This is to zero the configuration of the selected disk.

....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

Sources\X:> Command: diskpart  ......... On computer ##### C:\USERS\COMP NAME\DISKPART> Command: select disk 0  .......... disk 0 is now the selected disk. DISKPART> Command: clean all

Doing that you will lose everything but will be a clean install. I only use that before reinstalling windows to make sure alls well.

......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

To make a recovery partition in Windows 7:

Boot from Window 7 disk....

At the language screen press shift+F10

Go to diskpart: Command: diskpart

Now that your in diskpart.....

  1. list disk
  2. select disk 0
  3. select partition 1
  4. delete partition 1
  5. select partiton 2
  6. delete partition 2
  7. list partition
  8. create partition primary size=4096
  9. create partition primary
  10. list volume
  11. select volume 0
  12. assign letter=f
  13. select disk 0
  14. list partition
  15. select partition 2
  16. format fs=ntfs quick  (use the ''quick'' only if you think that the disk is okay)
  17. assign letter=c
  18. select partition 1
  19. format fs=ntfs quick label=recovery
  20. assign letter=d
  21. active
  22. exit

Leaving diskpart.....

X:\sources:

  1. xcopy f: d: /h/i/s

Wait..........

870 files copied

X:sources:

  1. f:
  2. cd/boot
  3. bootsect.exe /nt60 d:
  4. exit

Take cd out.....reboot........boot  from cd.......& install on partition C as usual. (not on the volume labeled recovery )

To access this after windows is installed press F8 or F12 on start up.

Allway Synch.jpg

Allway Sync is such an easy (and fast) way to take back ups that I find that I do actually back up my files regularly to an external hard disc drive biggrin
