Clutch Kit... Kevlar or cork?

Just wanted to get an opinion from you guys...

I need to put a clutch kit into my '06 TTR250. There are 2 on ebay that have caught my attention. One is Kevlar and the other is cork. Both are fairly close in price, just wondering on the pro's and cons of each. Also if you know of a cheaper or better kit I would appreciate the advice. I am in Australia.TTR250.JPG

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Dan.
It's your call really. Which do you prefer? If it were me I reckon the kevlar set would be going in.
There's really not a lot of difference in the prices so there's nothing to choose, really.
I've not had to do anything to my TTR's clutch in the past three years that I've had it. It gets abused as much as the rest of the bike in the Devon trails and it still performs with no slippage or snatching.
Is your existing clutch shot or merely out of adjustment?
Martyn

PS - I made the links in your post live.

Hi Martyn,

I only fairly recently came into ownership of the bike. The clutch has started to slip and when I tried to adjust it up I have found that there is no more room for adjustment.

Thank you for your advice... I have ordered myself a kevlar kit.

Thank you for making the links live... can I do that myself? If so how do I do it?

Danny

You're welcome - it's all part of the service. biggrin

Making links "live" is relatively easy (when you know how).

In the array of icons above your reply window is a chain icon..........

links.jpg

........ which is normally greyed out.

If you clip a URL to your clipboard pointing to the link you want to make live then the link icon becomes bold.

When the icon is bold you can click on it for a drop down box where you "paste" the link address from your clipboard.

To test the action before submitting your post  take a "Show Preview" and test it out.

When you're satisfied then Submit Post - voila. aww

How did the Kevlar kit go?

Really, would there be a benefit to kevlar in normal use? Or is it just a 'new, space age material' that doesn't actually work, in normal use, as well as the stock clutch plates? Like we aren't using carbon-carbon brakes on road bikes, because that could be dangerous.
