Flooding in East Devon - 22 November 2012

We have had some quite severe flooding in Devon and Somerset over the last couple of days.

I had a break at lunchtime and went for a ride to see what things were like and to take a few pics.

The waters have subsided considerably so I have missed the worst of it but there is still quite a lot of residual standing water plus there is a forecast of more torrential rain today on already saturated ground so it will get worse before it gets better - if you know what I mean hmm

The occupants of this deserted Land Rover apparently managed to escape through the windows!

This car was washed from its parking place and dumped on the pavement. I took the pic at the bottom of our village.

It would have been a sight to have seen the floods at their height but the police had closed all the flooded roads.

I feel very sorry for all the folk who have had property damaged or have written off their cars.

I'l bet the beer in the "pink pub" (The Bridge) is a bit watery today. biggrin

All the roads along the River Otter are similar to yours.

I bet Watery Lane (Rydon Lane) is impassable currently - should we have a look? smile

I have just had to go into town and nearly got blown off the TTR by very strong gusts of wind evileye

I nearly popped in to the Bridge for a pint but probably not a good idea to mix beer and bikes!

I was very tempted to go and see what Muddy (aka Watery aka Rydon) Lane looked like but didn't want to get stranded (or drownded) halfway along without support no

Been hearing about the floods in Devon etc, not too bad down this end at the moment, lots of rain but no real floods.
But have been heading off to the lanes when its rained over night and slide about in that fresh mud.
