Hi,

Are you based in southern Tasmania, I live around Cygnet and try and get out and have an adventure every two weeks, I've made a group on Facebook called Tasmanian Adventure Riders, small at the moment but would be good to make it grow. Our last ride was on sunday to Bruny Island, we tend to cruise at a sensible speed and step it up or down depending on the skill level of the slowest rider. Good choice on the bike, I got my '99 model with 7000k's for $2500 and very happy at how reliable and nice to ride it is.

BM steve, I got the bike off a mate of a mate type situation, he got it for his son in law to learn on, like happy sixteen or sumpthin', the boys attitude was somewhere in the vicinity of " I'm not riding that, I want a thumpster", even after that the bike sat around for the next 3 to 4 years hoping he would take an interest. (wouldn't happen with either of my kids i can tell you) ..........(ever) So he eventually puts it in the paper for 4 grand but tells my mate I can have it for 3 and a half, thats why I got it so cheap. works well for me, more cash for parts to soop her up.
Gcorner..... unfortunately I'm not in your neck of the woods, I'm on the north west in Burnie and have only just started this Monday on my learners which I have been working on as the TTR has almost reached 200k's now, this will be my first weekend free to just ride. In time I wouldn't have an issue cruising down the Hobart corner to meet you and your crew and travel some, none at all but maybe when the L plates are gone and I don't have to do 80k's all the way down there. Only thing I can think to ask is, is your group more off road than on road or mostly on the black stuff, just curious, also, in the after market exhaust department, seen any good ones, looked at the powercore 4 online but more leaning toward the pro circuit, cos its noisier, as in, noisy pipes save lives. Only two I have come across so far.

Oh,..that's a shame, still, like you say "one day" We mostly ride offroad but saying that the road part of offroad is exactly that, fire roads, link roads. Usually fairly good condition stuff. I tend to break out the maps and look for fire trails that link main roads and then check Google maps to see if the road is visible from above and what farms, gates and other things we may encounter that we need to be aware of. We have found some great roads that taper off over a few K's into singletrack which is fun but difficult at times as we quite often don't have reception so can't take GPS shots to check where we are heading. I'm staying with the stock exhaust as I like quiet bikes, better for riding around my 35 acre block, I think someone else was recommending a Pro Circuit T4 for the TTR. Having a quiet pipe scored me a heads up on a hidden trail once too, I came across a guy on a pushie and stopped to ask him about a possible link, he was so pleased with how quiet the bike was he gave me directions to a secret fire trail. Apparently he has been having screaming thumpstars go flying around the place and is sick of it.
