Just thought I'd share this with the good people of the forum. It gave me a giggle.
My mate decided that he wanted to learn how to weld. Being the genius he is thought he could just buy a welder and that's it, he can weld.
After getting his new welder home he was unable to get it to work. He phoned the guy he bought it off to complain. "I can't get it to work". The bloke asked if it was plugged in? My mate said " aah that's what it'll be".
After another 30 minutes of not being able to get it to work, he phone the seller again. "I keep pulling the trigger but I still can't get it to light". The guy explained to him that it's an electric welder, there are no flames. He said " just make sure it's properly earthed when in use".
So my mate, the doyle, went out into his back yard and smashed a hole in the concrete, to fit an earth rod, so that he could connect the earth clamp to it.
Relevance? This is the lad I bought my TTR off. *gulp*
Luckily he bought the welder after I collected the bike, or it could have been national news. Just hope he didn't attempt any repairs. He's had bikes for years, but isn't mechanically inclined. I did all of his repairs until he moved out of the area.
I'm in two minds whether to strip the engine for inspection, I have that little faith in his handy work.
