Hi Chris and welcome to the forum!

You are missing fork gaiters, engine bars, and caliper guard.

Can't see what's happening around the tail light area but it looks like the standard number plate holder has been removed.

If you want to re-instate the electric start then in addition to the battery box and battery, you will also need the solenoid and all of its attendant wires and connectors.

As Jarrah says, any TTR250 shock will be OK - other than the Raid shock which is different.

Part numbers etc here http://www.megazip.ru/ru/bike/yamaha/view/1086/2712/51793#g51793

Good to hear the digital speedo is working. The sender and magnet are repairable and s/h speedo heads are available so it's no more expensive than any other dirtbike with a digital speedo.

Interesting to see you have a non-standard shorty header pipe fitted. Is it a CRD?

Cheers

Brian

Good spotting Brian,

Also the obvious is missing blinkers, number plate holder, It does'nt have the clip for the front brake line that holds it to the handle bars (not that important).

You also seem to be missing the rubber that goes between shocky reservoir and the frame bracket.

Does'nt look like it has any side rail either

I bought this TTR from a mate, for £450, and since getting it home I have found a few faults and noticed missing parts. (Didn't stop me from taking it out and getting it dirty though)

It's pretty hard to start due to the long throw of the kickstart lever, or possibly even low compression. It needs to be just past TDC to kickstart it. I will compression test it later today. I understand these use shims for valve lash adjustment so I'll get some of those too.

The shock is a gold Ohlins, don't know the model, definitely not the original. The reservoir is fixed to the shock body and is located where the battery box should be. So I'm going to need the correct shock to fit a battery box. What is the correct shock for the 93 OE?

The factory manual has no part numbers and I'm finding it difficult to find a parts catalogue or schematic.

Apart from right rear plastic, can you see anything else missing from this side? (I haven't taken a photo of the other side yet, one on the way)

On a lighter note, the electronic speedo clock, pickup and magnet are all in good working condition. I understand these would be expensive to replace if they were FUBAR?

Cheers

Chris

Hey Chris,

Any shocky from 1993-2012 will fit fine. Apparently the US ones are better but??

Not sure about missing items as its not close enough for a good look but will save the pic & zoom in.

Thanks for the input chaps, and thanks for the welcome Brian.
I should be able to pick up a shock from a local breakers.
Defo need some gaiters. I plan on getting these after I've replaced the fork oil seals. I have the seals, just need to pick up the oil.
The number plate was bolted to the very rear of the mud guard with a single plastic nut and bolt. The bike was imported from Japan in 2003, dunno if that has anything to do with it?
The solenoid and battery cables are all present and correct, however I haven't had anything bigger than a 9v battery to test the electrics, which all seem fine. (apart from obviously not being able to test the electric start)
I have absolutely no idea what that header pipe is, it was fitted when I bought the bike.
