Just picked up a 2002 TTR225 with just over 900 miles on it.

Found a good deal on the TTR, which will serve many purposes. Primarily it will be a teacher bike. That is, it will give us a bike that I can take off-road to get reacquainted with the dirt after many years of straight street riding. It will give us a bike that I can teach my teenage daughter on. She wants a bike when she gets old enough to get a license and my wife and I are both riders so we're looking forward to having the whole family on their own bikes eventually. Finallly, it will give us a bike that my wife can take out in the dirt for the first time. She has been a street rider all her life. We bought a new Tiger 800 to take with us to Alaska in a couple of years, and the TTR seems like a better choice to learn dirt on than a $10,000 bike. ;) Dropping the TTR just won't have the same affect on us as dropping her Tiger (or my GS for that matter) while we both get our trail "sea legs" back.

Current bikes:

Mine: 2011 BMW R1200GSA

Wifes: 2012 Triumph Tiger 800

Family: 2002 Yamaha TTR225

Past bikes: 1979 Yamaha DT100, 1980 Suzuki DL450, 1982 Honda Silverwing 500, 2004 BMW R1150RT, 2000 Buell Blast, 2004 BMW R1150R, 2007 Buell Ulysses, 2009 BMW R1200RT, 2012 Triumph Tiger 800XC (most of these were mine).

Hope to learn a few tricks about the TTR here.

Wayne

Welcome to the forum Wayne. It sounds like motor cycling is in your family's blood wink

Lots of practical information here and here plus on this forum using the forum "search" facility but, if you can't find what you need, don't hesitate to ask!

Hi there, Wayne, wife and daughter, welcome to the TTR forum.

A good choice of "third" bike, especially suitable for a re-introduction and initial novice introduction to trailing.
