Hello guys !

I have a question for my repair kit :

I am in USA for the summer and I'm trying to fine a piston kit 74 mm of Wiseco.

but the seller told me that it will now work on my machine. I'm wondering why ?!

I tought that the part numbers are the same : 4GY-11631-00-C0 (for the piston)

I need your advice what to do because soon I will leave here and it will be hard to find the parts that I need in Bulgaria.

Could it be due to the fact that the standard TTR bore is 73mm, not 74mm as the Wiseco piston?

That is, unless yours has had a 1mm rebore. confuse

I don't need the standard piston set.

I rebored my cylinder for 74 mm piston and I just need it ...

Is there any othe difference between the years of TTRs ?

Probably - but maybe not. 

I honestly do not know, it's your decision after all.

Why do you want to put a Wiseco piston in your TTR?

Is there something wrong with your bike to make this a desirable proposition? cry

If the seller of the Wiseco piston warned that it wouldn't be suitable then you'd be wiser asking him why not rather than here.

If you do chance it then let us all know about it, please.

Hey man seen your post and thought i should let you know....

Firstly,it will fit no problems but you will have to bore the cylinder barrel to 74mm to fit a 74mm piston.

Secondly make sure the seller has it in stock as i bought exactly that item(Wizeco 74mm piston kit) from the exact same seller on ebay (jawzys)and was told at the start (after i purchased it cry)  that they had none in stock and asked if i wanted a different item or refund. 

The next day (or two) they (jawzys)said they they now have it in stock and it is in transit atm (hopefully) so be carefull and ask if they have items in stock FIRST!!!

Oh also check out this site if you want OEM genuine parts www.boats.net 

Just order 1999 parts unless its clutches or crankcase outer cover as these are different ie. 1999-2006 TTr 250 has 7 clutch plates 1992-1999 has 6

All cylinder barrels are the same

All heads are interchangable (raid model different compression ratio but still fits)

The only difference with engines between any model from 1992-2006 has been mentioned eg..

Just order 1996 parts unless its clutches or crankcase outer cover as these are different with the engines ie. 1999-2006 TTr 250 has 7 clutch plates 1992-1996 has 6

If you clicked on the tab that lets you know the price in uk $ (right hand side just above the middle of page) under International customers you would have the right quote except shipping (which should'nt be much

Genuine OEM piston kit 74mm should be less expensive than Wizeco Piston kit but Wizeco would be better in my opinion. Thats not to say genuine OEM would'nt do just fine.

Remember ask if the seller has the item in stock eg. Wizeco 74mm piston kit



 

If you do decide to buy it from www.boats.net just make sure you order eg: piston 74mm,circlips times two (NOTE: it will show you the amount of items needed for assembly) pin and ring set as it won't come as a full set.

Both Wiseco and Wossner pistons are good quality. I have used both in TTR rebuilds and they have been fine. I have a Wiseco piston in my 325 and a Wossner in my 280 TTR - no problems.

A good rebuild has more to do with the quality of the cylinder boring than the make of piston.

I understand what you are saing but the reason to change the piston is because in the beginig of the year they made me really ugly reboring of the cylinder and now I have to remove the 73.5 mm piston , to make another rebore and to put 74 mm ,but the sellers of the 74 mm Wiseco kit said that they can't guarantee that the piston kit 99-06 year(which they sell) will fit on 1993 year bike. 

That's my question : Should I affraid of that or I should buy it and it will fit on my bike.

I wanted to ask something else :
I look at the sit that you showed me and does it means that I can get the genue yamaha parts for about $120 :

If it's true the Wiseco and the Genue Yamaha parts are the same price , so what should I prefer ?

Updated for future reference...

Here are some measurements i have done with a micrometer...

 

  •   Standard 0EM 1992-1999 Wristpin length: 57mm
  •   Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit Wristpin length: 57mm

 

  • Standard 0EM 1992-1999 Wristpin outside diameter: 18mm
  • Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit Wristpin outside diameter: 18mm

 

  • Standard 0EM 1992-1999 piston height from wristpin : 15mm
  • Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit height from wristpin : 15mm

 

 

  • Maximum height of Standard 0EM 1992-1999 piston:47mm
  • Maximum height of Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit height:47mm

 

As you can see there is no problem with using the Wizeco 1999-2006 74mm piston kit for the 1992-1999 Oem piston kit

Obviously as mentioned already you would have to bore the cylinder barrel to 74mm to fit a 74mm piston kit.
