Had a great trail ride yesterday with 4 friends in North Devon.

We met at Croyde and rode to Porlock and back via as many green lanes (unsurfaced roads) as possible.

We covered 110 miles in total with most of that on single track roads.

We stopped at Lynmouth for fish and chips on the harbour side and dessert was an ice cream cornet at Porlock Weir.

The roads and lanes around the coast are steep and winding with some nice hairpins. Not quite Pyrennean but very nice all the same.

Many of the unsurfaced roads were quite steep and ran through woodland. Not quite so good for visibilty as I was wearing sunglasses under my visor no

I was too busy enjoying the ride and the scenery to take many pics but here are two that I took at Saddle Gate - just by the little row of trees due south of Shallowford here - up on a bit of open moorland.

Nice to find a bit of wilderness only a few miles from a pasty shop biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

A lovely day's riding in great company.

The TTR325 performed faultlessly. I was very pleased to have fitted an MT43 trials tyre for the ride as there was some very slippery smooth rocks on many of the lanes.

Beautiful day for it, Brian.

You certainly know how to make us lesser mortals green evileye with envy.

I presume Big Jim was leader seeing as you started at Croyde. Did his wife ride with you to get those pasties, fish and chips? confuse

The new helmet was OK I presume, apart from the peak?

Yep - Big Jim led on his WR450F. We had his wife Allison along on her Honda CRF230 and she is a very handy rider. One lane had a half-mile narrow rut that had me clenching but she rode it fine! Ruts are always a good test of a rider wink

Roger was on his latest bike, a KTM250 with a 350 conversion and a Recluse clutch and Dale on his DRZ400.

New helmet was absolutely great. Just need the reactolite pinlock lens and a longer peak and it will be near perfect biggrin
