Check your chain slider!

Just started to refurbish a blue TTR and stripped out the swing arm this morning as there was quite a bit of play. Once out it was fairly obvious why!

Slider_problem.jpg

Experienced owners will know to keep an eye on the chain slider and replace it before the front bottom section by the sprocket wears through but I have posted up this warning pic for new owners.

The green arrow points to the completely worn through slider. The consequences were that the chain then rubbed through the bearing cover (blue arrow) allowing water into the swing arm bearing which is now completely shot.

A new slider costs £35 from Andy - see http://www.joatmoa.co.uk/ttr250/#Chain Slider

This bike will now need a new slider, plus the unnecessary additional expense and work of fitting a swing arm bearing kit at just over £34 - plus a new cover (about £6-7) as these aren't included in the All Balls kit.

Sorry to sound preachy but hopefully someone will appreciate the heads up.

Brian

After the drought we suffered and more especially after the recent flooding and rain I think this is a bit of timely advice. smile

Thanks Brian. I'm off to the garage now to check mine.
