Not sure but it explains my fuelling problem, mine had 145 main jet in, was told standard was 137 replace with 140, so thought someone had put a 145 in and it was massively overfuelling, must still be weak, going to get a 147.5 and try that!

I've just put some petrol in mine and it works out to 70mpg on the road sometimes 2up.

That's 245 tank range then. I think it's the most economical vehical I've ever owned. smile

33 bhp ? seems very optimistic to me i would say more like 20 bhp ?
i'm new to ttrs and own a 2003 which i bought from a trf member in chesterfield and was told that it was " uncorked "
having checked it the snorkel has been removed a sports silencer fitted and the pipe cut back to get rid of the restricter and also
i was told it was jetted to suit which when looking at the plug it seems fine but know way does it feel like 30 bhp
but one thing ive noticed is after i swopped a ride with my mate and his serrow 225 is how much his bike was more willing to rev
compared to mine, its only done 3000 miles is it still a bit tight or is this normal ? when out on the road i seem to have just a little bit more power and torque but his serrow is standard
sorry for throwing this at you guys lol but any info would be welcome
best regards mick

I am guessing the 33bhp was measured at the engine rather than the rear wheel.

The TTR engine gets "stronger" the more miles you put on it but it should rev freely at 3,000 miles. If you have done the usual service checks (clean air filter, plug, valve clearances set correctly, etc), I can't think what else to suggest unless its something really odd or unusual like a partially blocked silencer confuse

thanks for the advice Brian but everything looks good as i serviced it when i bought it and fitted a iridium plug as a matter of course,
it does pull well with 13 49 gearing and i'm no lightweight lol
maybe i'm doing the bike an injustice as my previous bike was a wr 450 and keep comparing them so unless something major
happens mechanically i'll keep riding it and accept that its just different lol
regards mick

That seat height of "875mm" is definitely wrong...I've noticed many times that bike specs are wrongly reported on the net ,so its worth cross-checking... The actual Yamaha site says the seat height is in fact "910mm"....Thats a big difference....I have seen "895" listed elsewhere as possibly the lowest seat height setting. I have 2 TTR's and one is shorter than the other..Hard to measure precisely ,but i rate them at "890-900" and "930-950". Maybe its the rear pre-load thingy has been adjusted ,and slightly taller Dunlop 605's on the taller bike ? Then again i have not been able to find any info about the difference between a "RAID" bike and an "OE" one....Can someone "Please Explain" ?? The other discrepancy i noticed was the "16 litre" fuel capacity....Mine takes 10 or maybe 10.5 litres. I don't get it...Am i missing something here ?? Correct me if i'm wrong ,cos i don't mind getting to know the topic from those that know better.

47km/L... ??  I had a Honda XR250 Tornado not long ago..

They have a DOHC , Air cooled motor with 6 speed box &

put out 23hp..the best I ever got was around 25/26km per liter

So could Yamaha almost double it with basicly the same technology ?...

Hope I'm wrong... 47km/L would be great for some of the places I ride...

Just filled up my 06 TTR from almost empty.. it took just under 9 liters...

Specs say it has a 9.5L tank... steel tank prop hold more..but 16L is

a big tank...
