Paul and Olly's belated birthday trail ride - 6 May 2012

Paul's WR450F needed an engine rebuild so the birthday run was about 6 weeks later than it should have been but at least we did it wink

Paul's bike was only finished and MOTd on Saturday so it was very tight! He asked me to plan and lead the run.

Six of us made it on the day which is the maximum I am happy to lead. Me - TTR325, brother Trev - TTR250, Paul - WR450F, Olly - WR250F, Rik - KTM250 EXC 4-stroke, and Dan - KTM450.

Sunday's weather was really kind and we had a great day. As I was leading, and we had quite a few miles to cover, I didn't get to take many pics - sorry cry

I took a few videos of one of our drought-affected lanes in the hope someone might have an incident but no-one did! The lane runs along the bed of the River Tale for about 600 yards and there were some deeper holes around the corner that I didn't catch on film. Olly was the bravest and tested it out on his WR250F (formerly owned by me) - see video here:

Here is a pic taken at the bottom of one of the most difficult lanes we did that day. It is of Olly about ready to launch his WR up the bank - not obvious from the pic:

I took a video but had to cut it short as Olly seemed to think I should be helping him get his bike up instead of videoing him wink

We covered 80 miles and 64 lanes which included some of the most interesting and challenging in East Devon as specially requested by birthday boy Paul - I was happy to oblige biggrin

The TTR325 ran faultlessly as always and brings a huge silly grin to my face - the big bore upgrade was the best money I have spent on my bikes - other than buying the TTR in the first place smile

Roll on the next ride.

Brian

Each time I join a group for a ride around our East Devon lanes I say that was the best run ever.

This was no exception, excellent choice of lanes making it a superb run. Thank you Bri.

For some reason I had a problem staying upright, but it did not stop me from enjoying the run. Broke both of my handguards, but they had saved my bars and levers.

When I got home and took all of my riding gear off, I found that my right knee pad was broken and I cant even recall falling off to my right!

Sadly I didnt get any photos, probably because I spent soooo much time picking myself up out of the mud and trying to catch up with the others.

Going to fit a lowering link to see if that helps me regain some confidence and maybe I can keep up with everyone else!
