i am looking at upgrading my stock 2006 exhaust with a lighter and maybe quieter fmf q4 exhaust.  I live at 3500 ft above sea level and ride up to 6000ft.  should i change my main and pilot jet? and to what?

thanks

Hi, nwrider.
I don't think that you will find a quieter exhaust than the US stock exhaust, assuming that it has all the bits that it is supposed to. When complete, it is really almost whisper quiet. If you are missing the the little restrictor tube at the very end of the tail pipe, then it is a lot noisier. (The most common state of TT-R250 mufflers on eBay is with that restrictor missing.)

I am not as qualified to address the jetting issues with much experience, but I would try it without any changes and see how it runs. How does it run, now, with the stock exhaust at those elevations?

it runs like a champ, i bought it used from a kid, last year for 1200 bucks, he needed cash despartely.  I just want to spruce up the bike a little, i street legaled it here in montana, changed the gear ratios, put some 60/40 shinko tires on it and a rear rack.

Which rear rack did you choose? Does it have a bash plate? Any pics of the bike that you can share? I wish we could still street legal dirt bikes here in CA. (I think '03 was the last year.)
