Open Enduro.... The Saga begins

hi guys, awesome to be here. Thank god this forum exists, Just purchased my first ever motorbike the other day and it just happens to be a TTR250 1997 Open Enduro.... It's a ripper, although the bum is a bit saggy and the front end wobbles a lot it's now my interim trusty demon until the new Tenere 660 comes along later this year. Stripped her down tonight for a front shock rebuild tomorrow, new intermediates front and rear and if I can work out how to get the rear shock out, that will be done too. The battery held a charge overnight and it started within a second this morning. The electronic speedo works a treat and suprised the hell out of me considering how old the bike is. Well I'm of to see if anyone can help me with the rear shock issue. Cheers Craig

Welcome Craig, from sunny Devon.

What an exciting time for you, your first ever motorbike - mine was a Lambretta in 1963, ah...... rose tinted glasses. wink

Take your time and cherish every moment. Don't expect to run before you can walk (or crawl) in safety. Most of all - ENJOY IT. biggrin

There are plenty of folks on the forum that can give good advice to you. All you have to do is ask. confuse

Martyn

I'm impressed, Craig. Your first ever motorbike, and you're tearing into her like you've done it before. You must have other mechanical experience.

Hi LRJ, I'm a Electrician by trade but also used to be involved in a family Stihl dealership, so I was really good at pulling chainsaws apart, then putting them back together with many parts left over! Same goes for my TTR at this stage, I have a 6mm screw left over that I can't for the life of me pinpoint it's old location...
