Different head light

Hello, If you seen the pics of my bike do you think it's got a different head light to norml as it looks quite large and has a glass lense, could it be off an Xt or other enduro bike. Thanks Sam.

Your light does appear to be larger than normal, Sam, but it may be just the angle that it's shown together with the different fairing.

To be sure you could compare the size. wink

Mine is 5 inches by 3.5 inches (125 x 90 mm)

What's yours measure ?

Just started wetting it down here so will check later, but is fixed direct to the forks and has a separate head light adjustment, looks like it came off an XT or some thing similar! Didn't the original lense came with plastic as that's glass so better bulbs =D

Early TTRs probably had low wattage bulbs and plastic light fronts. confuse

Up the wattage and melt the lamp. crydisbelief

Mine is registered as 2000 and has a glass headlight so no problems with melting.

Might be a head lamp from a 2000 bike which is good for better bulbs.

Hi Sam,

Mine is a 94 Raid with a rubbish open enduro headlight no, so Id love to think there was a relatively cheap alternative headlight unit with a glass front that would fit well. If there was I'd be in the market for it smile

It isn't off a TTR but I wonder if its from another bike or an aftermarket one?

There might be some markings on it somewhere to help identify it.

The UFO headlights off ebay are bloody good, I just put one on my Armstrong and was amazed by how good it is for a small lens and 35w bulb, it also has a glass reflector so a bigger bulb could be used.

Which model headlight is that please? I couldn't find a blue halogen UFO unit on eBay.

Cheers

I bought one in KTM orange and sprayed it up. Though I thought I had seen them in blue when I bought it.

Here it is on the old Armstrong

Hi Mark. I bought a blue version of that headlight from eBay but I am pretty sure that the lens is plastic. It makes a very different noise to my TTR original glass unit when tapped. What do you think?

I'll go out to the carpark and give it a tap, I'm sure I remember it seeming like glass!

It appears to be a heavy duty plastic, very strong but managed to scratch it with a knife. Sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for checking Mark. Sadly that means we are still looking for an after-market headlight with a glass lens cry

Did you have a chance to look for any markings or a maker's name?

It isn't one I recognise so could be the original manufacturer's headlight off another model.

Looking at the manual it says the nominal output is 14v 13.5A at 5,000 rpm i.e. 162 watts?
