Inspired by a certain Mr B Sussex and his restoration project, I decided to take a few panels off the rear of my bike and see whats what.
I cleaned up the frame a bit and swabbed out some scum from inside the airfilter box. I cleaned out the pod (Raid toolkit missing) and put it all back together.
I then decided that my side stand was annoying me with its rustiness, so I cleaned degreased and brushed it with a wire brush, then sprayed it a rather fetching matt black.
I've got some goodies on the way from Totally TTRs, so I'll be putting them on soon. Grips, Handguards, chain and sprockets, oil and air filters, then list goes on!

It's surprising how much crud gets stuck behind the side pods, mudguards, bash plate and things - it took me a couple of days to de-mud mine and it still looks mucky!
It brings back memories seeing your number plate; NU - Derbyshire registration, like my Dad's first car JNU way back in 1964.
Your bike will feel a different machine when it's all done, chain & sprockets make all the difference.
Thanks Martyn for your encouragement, I'm going to touch up some of the paint at various rust spots on the frame and swingarm, and I'll stick some pics up as I go.

Well fancy that, I've actually ridden with Martin Rathmell (Malcolm's son) years ago. My friend Matt was involved peripherally in the world championship trials scene in what I guess would be the late 90's, and would go riding with Dougie Lampkin, Martin Crosswaite (who now has the pub in the next village to me!), graham Jarvis (grimbo), and other Yorkshire lads. Very occasionally I would tag along.
