I got my 2000 TTR in August 2010 and since then I have done 3,530 miles on her. (I keep a detailed log of all this data!)

During all that time/miles I have put 49.87 gallons in.

That equates to an average of 70.77 miles per gallon.

The tank holds, brim full, an alleged 10 litres (2.2 gallons).

So, on a tankful, including ALL reserve, I could travel (theoretically) 155.7 miles.

I have not recorded more than 128.4 miles on a tankfull, but I have never run the tank bone dry and have only used the reserve setting two or three times.

I have never found the need to tamper with the snorkel or jet settings and the only adjustments made have been to tickover and air filter cleaning.

Martyn

PS - I should have added - gearbox = 13 teeth, rear wheel = 48 teeth

(Soon to be changed to 14:52)

just wondering what the max range is for a new (2011) model. i just got mine out for its first highway/firetrail/singletrack adventure and got 130km or around 80 miles to a tank including reserve. is this going to get better once the engine wears in?

mods so far = 13 tooth front sprocket, removal of snorkel. thats all.

I AM VERY IMPRESSED with the capability of this bike by the way!

well my first tank got 130 km, or 80 miles. but this included off raod which im guessing would use more petrol from all the revving. it was ll highway doing 120km/h so probably revving there too.

unsure if the 13 tooth sprocket would affect fuel also.

Dave, I run 5 bikes (my missus never gets in my garage) biggrin

My 2000 TTR averages 70 mpg

My 1955 Triumph T100 (500cc) averages 65 mpg

My 2005 Suzuki Bandit 1200 averages 50 mpg

My 1962 trials Cub (200cc) averages 110 mpg

My 1926 ohv BSA 350 averages around 70 mpg - but it's difficult to be accurate because it has no speedometer or mileage recorder. confuse

A lot of mpg figures depend on right wrist twist and enjoyment. If you want real frugality then your best option may be a Raleigh Wisp biggrindisbeliefno (but we'll not go there)

I run 13-48 sprockets, 120kmh is really pushing it on the road, but I still get at least 65mpg.

Couldn't tell you that, I'm on a RAID so have the bigger tank - I get roughly 260-300km to reserve, which is then about 12-13L to fill.

Wasn't 2006 the last YEAR the TTR250 was made confuse, even though they still may have some new ones left somewhere. I remember someone (here on this site) in Australia bought one last year and thought it was a 2013 when in fact it had been sitting backstage at a dealership.wink
