front wheel spacers, blue bike, white bike, any difference ??

im not convinced I have the correct spacer on the rhs of my open enduro. It is the right length, but fits like a dick in a shirt sleeve against the bearings. Meaning the bearings are more exposed than they might. Is this normal? The spacer is a simple bit of tube, where as the disk side one is flared.

I have found aftermarket replacement spacers online, but listed for later models ( with mechanical speedos u guess) do the later bikes have the same spacers, or do the speedos make a difference?

Thanks in advance

Ed

Hi Ed

The RHS spacer on the OE is plain tube.

The blue TTRs have a speedo drive in its place. The aftermarket spacer kits, such as AllBalls, usually only include the LHS spacer for that reason as they are made for the US market where the white OEs weren't sold.

Your spacer should be held in place by the oil seal and it will all be tight when you bolt up the axle.

Thanks Brian

But surely thats bad design then? Because some bikes have spacers that cover the seal? because it aint that good a seal.

Cheers for clearing that up.

Ed

The TTR250 seal and spacer design dates back to 1993 at least.

I agree that the new style spacers that cover the seals, as per the WR250R, are an excellent advance in design. Is there a way of adapting them to the TTR perhaps?
