My bike and what mods should I do???

Hi guys

ok so my bike is 04 with full FMF Q pipe, standard apart from that I reckon.

I dont expect miracles from the bike but what should I do for best results bearing in mind ive had DRZ 400s KDX 220s so not expecting that power but they both had mechanical water seals fail hence wanted air cooled....

Air box mod? remove snorkel, drill holes, change air filter?

Re-jet, what size for above mod and pipe and where to get in UK??

Carb screw how do I do this so slide opens fully?

You get the picture guys, dont want to spend loads but if its cheap and makes the bike better, go for it....

Well, I can tell you this: The carb screw thing is a myth and anybody that has had a TTR carb in bits will tell you the slide fully opens without the screw being messed with (or removed completely) Unless of course somebody has deliberately wound it the wrong way... The stop screw is there to prevent the lever that lifts the slide from hammering into the top carb cover and causing damage by stressing the lever lock screw inside the carb.
You only have to remove the air intake tube, open the throttle and stick your finger down the carb intake to check slide lift. Engine off of course.

Removing the snorkel tube of the airbox increases air intake and weakens the mixture. It also allows more dust to enter and clog the filter.

Also, by removing the snorkel it increases the chance of water wrecking the engine if you have a habbit of crossing deep fords. disbeliefno

The majority of TTR riders I know tend to ride their bikes on green lanes where out and out speed isn't a desirable asset. wink

I have a 1200 Suzuki Bandit that I take out on the road when I want to satisy my speed lust, but the Bandit sucks on the lanes that the TTR enjoys. biggrin

Hi Martyn

thanks for feedback, I too have an 07 R6 Fiat Rossi replica which is crap on green lanes but when I feel the need ,the need for speed take her out....

The TTR is just cos Ive never had one and sick of all enduro bikes ive had being water cooled and leaking all the bloody time.... Heard great reports on the TTR so bought one. If air colled was best for VW then good for me......

Well will leave it with exhaust and not do anything else....

Thanks.

Steve
