OK, first off, when sitting still and idling the engine just purrs and when you give a a good rev and hold it still the same just a louder faster purr, I even have a medical Stethoscope and there are no strange noises coming from the head or really anywhere
Now when on the trail and you crank on the gas slowly it also sounds OK until you start to get a bit of load on the motor then this kind of mechanical roar starts, it sounds like it;s coming from just under the fuel tank.
When you hit the gas fast and put a lot of load on the roar is there straight away.
The motor seems in perfect condition, it doesent tick, click groan, grind, anything ?
I suspect what I am hearing is the Intake
Anyone care to take a guess
Steve

Has a previous owner removed the snorkel? I tried mine with it out and put it back in after the first ride because the intake noise was giving me a headache
Thanks for the hint TTRFan, it was always going to be hard to describe this noise.
The bike is as far as I can tell, bog standard, exhaust, intake, the lot, maybe I'm being to sensitive, it's my first bike after a long break after all, I did the same thing with my Staintune exhaust, replaced it with the stocker which I think is just about brand new, the staintune was just awful.
Any other suggestions ?
BMSteve
