TTR250 - good running engine and gearbox for sale

I have now vacated my storage "facility" where I had been keeping my TTR250s that I rescued from Spain so I am a bit over run with the things here at TTR Towers to the extent that there are a couple of 'em lurking on the lawn with plastic macs on cry

I have started going through them with a view to sell the best as "projects bikes" to get a quick gain in garage space and I will break the rest for spares. No 1 has already gone to a good home and here is the 2nd ready for sale.

This TTR was missing its starter motor and switch so I feared the worst but, happily, I replaced the "borrowed" parts and, once I got the starter motor running in the right direction disbelief, she started up and runs fine with no smoke or rattles.

I have taken it out for a spin on my private road and the clutch and gears are good. The brakes work well enough for an MOT but, as with any stored bike, will improve with a bit of use as the disc and pads clean up.

This is what a finished example can look like:

The parts are very much sought after and I already have customers waiting for carbs, wheels, kickstart kits and shock absorbers so the bike will be offered for a few days only and, if not sold by next Monday 14th November, will be broken for spares.

An advert for the bike is online here http://www.totallyttrs.com/2004_TTR250_No_5.htm

If you are interested and would like to come and have a look then please ring me on 01392 875483.

OK - the TTR didn't sell.

I am now hoping to sell the engine and gearbox as a whole unit as it seems a shame to break it for spares despite the fact that would make more £p

The bike was manufactured in April 2003 and the engine is the typical dual start (electric and kick) unit found in blue TTRs.

The starter mechanism is good and the buyer will get the engine and gearbox including:

  • the inlet manifold (over £40 new) but no carb
  • starter motor (over £90 to replace)

I will keep the actual kickstart lever as I need it for another project - unless the buyer makes a special arrangement.

I am asking £600 for the engine and am happy for anyone to come and start it, warm it up, and drive it around my yard to check the clutch and gears.

I am not offering a guarantee which is why I am keen a prospective buyer checks it out whilst it is still in the bike.

I won't be selling any other parts from the TTR until the engine is sold.

PM me if you are interested wink

Brian
