I am John from the small mining hamlet of Coseley in the heart of the Black Country.
I am a member of the Black Country TRF and i have sold my KTM 400 exc for a ttr 250 same vintages (2004)
Why, some may say? Well its because i could not blame the bike when i failed to negotiate that awkward obstacle, now i can LOL
Seriously i wanted something quieter so i can poke around a bit more! and neglect in terms of maintenance a bit more.
So far i have repaired and re-installed the rear silencer, put extra thick HD tubes in and fitted a flexi number plate and i got this really well made bash guard fitted, bought from totally ttr's (highly recommended) LOL.
I only ride the lanes when the weather turns and my road bike goes into hiding from the salt. I do a few local lanes but the real fun for me is riding in wales so i am looking at an hour's drive before the real fun begins. I dont bother much with the peaks as they are to busy for weekend riding.
Welcome John. I'm Darren from Flooded Bankok, Thailand, and I have just treated my TTR to the KTM colours orange and black, but I kept the bike. It's a great forum and lots of useful help too on all your sticky probs. Hope you and your family are all well including the dog. Take care . Good luck with the bike. Daz.

Welcome to the site John, plenty of useful info on hear, not that much really goes wrong , I am in a similar situation to you, had ktm's crf's but went for the ttr due to the bomb proof quiet engine and the 6th gear for the road. I do miss the power and and that rush when you crack the throttle open on the crf250 but I can use the ttr everyday for road and off roading so I am mire than happy with the bike.
Now i have a quiet bike i can really poke around in west wales! and its surprising what a couple of welsh dragon stickers do for you!
Try taking a collie dog running beside you on a length of baler twine plus carry a bale of hay on the rear rack and you can go just about anywhere in Wales - just say you are looking for your lost sheep
