Thailand floods

It certainly seems to have passed the news events supplying us here in the UK. disbelief

This is a Reuters article which describes the situation:-

It mentions the efforts of the new prime minister, Yingluck Shinawatra, who has been dropped in the deep end (literally) in her first dealings with power.

Industry seems to be suffering badly but my heart goes out to the poor people who are suffering, 352 killed already! doh

Tragic.

Hi Guys. First let me thank you for your kind thoughts.

The floods here are extremely widespread and differ in depths. Where I am in Bangkok the water is a meter deep at the moment , but 20 mins up the road its 3 meters. On a light note my bike is on the landing upstairs and the wheels, handlebars, front forks, plastics are in the bedroom where we are living at the moment, I dis-assembled jonny five so I could get him upstairs, three of my mates helped me carry it up

. So at the moment were living in a three up flodded downstairs house. But on a serious not we are all fine, but we are lucky because there are a lot of people who have lost everything. The authorities are saying it's going to be about 50 days before the floods have subsided so we're in for the duration by the look of things. The local supermarkets are out of drinking water but we're lucky we have a water filter system for drinking water installed in the house so we stocked up an as much water a possible. One of my neighbours has a jet ski so we have been out on that to the local supermarkets where we can get supplies, but they are getting low on many things now.

Well will keep you all informed on the situation here, and thanx again for your kidness.

At last the flooding disaster is being mentioned by the BBC as Bangkok seems to be going under - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-15477217

My heart goes out to everyone affected, particularly the elderly and infirm.

What's it like now Darren - has the flood receded or is it still a problem?

Just read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Thailand_floods and it seems that areas of Bangkok are still flooded.
