I have seen a thread on fitting a light switch on the ttr but can't seem to find it now, can anyone help me out? What switches have people used, I have seen on on eBay which looks up to the job but not sure where I would mount it on the bars. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390349672653?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_1463wt_871
Shouldn't be too hard if you follow the instructions.
Mine has a switch that kills the dip/main beam only.
I only use the Yamaha infrequently at night time and using just side (parking) lights reduces the load on the alternator giving an easier time for the battery.
I run heated grips and a GPS from my TTR's power and have been caught out a couple of times when I switched off the engine with the kill switch instead of the ignition key. This leaves all the lights on plus grips and GPS thereby draining the battery quite quickly.
I decided that I will cut into the dip wire on the headlight and put in an on/off switch to help prevent draining the battery in this way.
I have been trying to find a good switch that matches the original TTR switches and this is the best I have found.
I will be fitting it to my TTR in the next couple of days so will take some pics.
Meanwhile, I have added "international" postage to the ad for the switch - see here
Glad you like the list of "extras" - new parts are being added weekly
Just think that it's designed for either shorting a low current to earth or supplying a low current to the coils - i'd rather know it can take 5A before connecting it to the headlight!

I am buying them as "light switches" for motorbike so have assumed they are up to the job.
I have emailed my suppliers to see if they can help with more information.
Meanwhile, I am going to fit one to my own TTR so if you see some blue flashes and a pall of smoke over Exeter then they aren't up to the job
If it can then it's absolutely perfect and I can see me ordering yet more bits off you - my current headlight switch is tucked in behind the raid's posh metal guard, and bloody hard to get to!

Any switch will work
If you have no room on the handlebars you can fit it to the illumination instrument.
I reccommend that you do not try this the Cobra way as this is too much hasle & chopping the harness like that aint good
