Hello everyone from Louisiana.  Just joined and wanted to say Hi.

My name is Dennis and I own an '02 TTR250.  I've enjoyed it and think it's a great bike.  I also have a KDX 200.  Lighter, nimbler bike.  Quicker off the line but not "faster".  I had the kawasaki first. I bought the yamaha simply because it is a 4 stroke and quieter.  An area where I like to ride does not allow 2 strokes (too loud). Plan on selling the KDX if anyone is interested. 

Looking forward to the forum.  Wanna set my bike up to ride the Trans Am Trail (or at least a piece of it).  Open to any & all input.

Welcome to TTR land, Dennis.

From what I read in your second post it seems that you have a little Yamaha blues!
Starter motor problems look to be the achilles heel of the TTR and can be costly to rectify. cry

I would suspect you have problems with the sprag (one way) clutch which seem to issue noises of impending doom.

If you click on the link "The TTR250 FAQ web pages" in the top left hand corner of this page you will find information on the problem and how to rectify it. confuse

At least you have another bike to ride whilst repairs are being done. wink
