I wonder how crazy, stupid or possible it would be to do on a TTR250. One guy completed it on his Vstrom 650, another guy did it on a WR250R, another on a DRZ400, plus many of the usual suspect long distance rally bikes ie KTM990's, KTM 690's, BMW's several new Tiger 900XC's (love to be able to afford one of those) and DR650's.
Of my 2 bikes, if I was going to trash one on a ride like this, I'd rather it be the TTR. And it is the most offroad ready. All I'd need to add to the TTR would be probably be to fit heavier springs front and rear so I could carry me and my luggage better, fit some bigger pegs, probably pivot pegz, and some sort of rack for soft panniers to rest against. I must fit my big tank, I still need to come up with some brackets to fit it properly. I don't know whether the sub frame would need strengthening.
I'm halfway through Lois Pryce's Red Tape and White Knuckles. It's giving me ideas of what the little bike is capable of.
