Guys, I'm losing oil from a gaskey under the head on the front left hand side of the engine (near the exhaust outlet).. The bike had loose bolts all over it when I got it and I'm thinking even the engine studs could be loose. It it advisable to crank on the bolt?  I've got a torque wrench but not sure the setting.  pic attached of where it's coming out.  thanks for your help.

Gavin

Hi Gavin and welcome to the forum biggrin

In all probability it is the decompressor plug that is leaking - see here  for more information wink

Hi Gavin, I have the same issue on mine leak in near the exhaust around the same gasket I need to order the gasket from Steve but there's a few threads on here that help you out if its the gasket and not the plug 🙂

The cam cover gasket is ridged to help the seal and, over time these ridges flatten out and the rubber hardens, particularly over the exhaust area, and allow the gasket to leak. If you don't think it's the decompressor plug leaking then check your gasket's ridges.

I hope you can see what I mean from the photo wink

Most times it's the plug

The valve cover gasket does leak at times but it's a quick fix not to be confused with the head gasket which is a bit more of a job
