Hello! (Please tell me about your seat!!)

Hi there!

Just a quick line to introduce myself!

I’m a Scotsman living and working in Uganda, East africa.

I wanted to ride bikes when I was a teenager, but would definitely have done something stupid and killed myself! Now a bit older (if not much wiser...) and recently started riding! Love exploring my local area in a much more personal way than in a car, and enjoying riding my TTR on the many dirt roads round here.

Got a sore tail from a day’s riding last time I was out, and wondered what others do for a bit of additional padding for longer rides...

Thanks!!

Andy

Och aye tha noo, Andy, and welcome.

Have you tried sitting on your sporran? biggrin

I must admit that I thought my TTR saddle was very comfortable when I  was riding.

Quite a few riders have removed padding to make their legs touch the ground, but that's not what you're after. confuse

Have you thought of buying some foam and using a seat cover to hold it in place?
It would be less cost than having a new sculpted foam base and cover fitted.

I'm sure someone with more suggestions will be along to help before long.

Martyn

Welcome to the forum Andy!

We have 16 registered members in Uganda so you are not alone as a TTR-owner wink

If money is no object then go for an Airhawk seat cushion - https://airhawk.net/product-category/seat-cushions/. You may be lucky and get a second-hand one wink

Else padded cycle shorts might help.....

Old school on the seat cover this sheep skin pad has seen thousands of miles and go's on the TTr on any trip over 100 miles and has seen weeks of use racking up miles across Europe on bikes of all sorts not so sticky on the ass when its real hot but holds the water well when wet

Thanks for the welcome and advice gents!

Martyn, the sporran sounded good right up until I thought about where the tassle-y bits might go...

Brian, the Airhawk looks good, but money is a bit of an object!! Will keep my eye out for a second hander!

Pug, I was thinking along the sheepskin route, Lois Price style. Did you buy a sheepskin and make something up, or did you buy it off the peg?

thanks again for the input!

A

The TTR seat is super comfortable compared to modern enduro bikes like KTM WRF's etc. Their seats are just hard.
If you ride more you get used to it. And stand up where you can.

Otherwise I swear by padded bicycle shorts under your riding pants, makes for a comfy ride ;)
Cheap on ebay out of china.

just a case of getting bike fit, the TTR seat is pretty good & better than my WRR, also much softer than the WRR & much better than both my Triumph's

Cheers Terry

I modified my seat around 6 times without success. I then bought an air hawk. Total arse bliss. I can ride for hours without issue. Bugger bike fit, I’m built for comfort, not speed biggrin  Got mine second hand for $50 delivered. Had only been used a few times.
