Blew up rear shock?

hi everyone, I was out riding today and when I was on my way back to the truck and I heard a loud pop like my tire popped. I pulled off to the side of the trail and looked at the tires and shocks. They looked fine so I slowly rode it to the truck. When I was loading it i noticed that the chain was tight and realized that the shock blew. Any of you guys know how to check and make sure it blew out? I'd really appreciate it. Thank.

Haven't heard of a shock blowing usually a visible oil leak or lack of damping

If you have knobby tires. A knob can get caught up on a rock stick ext and it makes a loud pop usually enough to make you stop and check

Tight chain are the sprokets OK was it set right earlier in day .eorn sprocket chain could jump a tooth or two making a noise

Just a few thoughts

As Les says, there would be visual clues if the hydraulics in the shock had blown (pipe or reservoir split) as there would be oil showing somewhere on the TTR.

I think a good look at it in daylight should give you the answer. If the TTR's ride height is as it normally is, you have the same sag etc when you sit on it (bounce up and down to check the action of the shock), and no signs of oil leaking then it has to have been something else.

Please let us know what you find!

Brian

If it's not the shock then what else could have made that noise?

Check out the shock first but, if everything looks OK, it was probably a stone/tyre interaction - that's the only thing I can think of that would make a loud popping sound wink

I just finished power washing and everything looks fine. The only thing I see wrong is the shock boot.
