Quiet silencer wanted

Having bought myself a TTR250 and giving it the once over I am finding the exhaust noisier than I want It's an FMF core4.

I have looked through earlier threads and it seems the Motad is the quietest.

Has anyone any recommendations or one available please?

Hi

Motad went bust a while agocry I Had OSS pipes make me up a really nice prototype, only to mess up on the first production run and we parted company. This is my next mission, to sort out a aftermarket ss exhaust.

At the moment I can still get brand new original exhausts from Yamaha, they still sound the best stealth exhaust in my opinion.

Steve

Staintune mufflers in Australia are very good quality, ran one years ago on a KTM600 i think it outlasted the bike.

'Yamaha TTR 250
YA MS TTR 25 1994 Onwards Yamaha TTR 250R Sports race muffler Removable Restrictor Each $699.00'

With the Aussie dollar a bit weak atm could be an option. ??

Might be genius or a complete bodge.
Have ridden with another TTR and an FMF. I know what you mean. It's a great shame Steves didn't work out, the prototype was stunning.

I was lucky getting one called an Epro secondhand on ebay, had to repack it, but I think it's the best TTR noise....

I have a Staintune on my TTR, fitted after the 1st ride, it is better than stock & slightly better on fuel as well. I found it loud at 94db with the baffle in but have since got a different baffle / end insert from Staintune & fitted that.

It is legal here in Australia & meets all the ADR etc. To me sounds much like an XR ( I've had a few )

You are correct Steve, I can get the part number if required as I have the box outside

TK Terry Kelly did a TTR muffler as well, also rated at 94db & lighter as it was made out of alloy I believe

Terry

my TTr has a staintune muffler , its a tough unit just legal here in ozz  , its a good unit but the noise is annoying on longer rides  the extra baffle does knock the edge off the bark though .( great in traffic if they cant see me they can hear me)

i have the original still in the shed but stick with the staintune as its small and has been able to take a lot of knocks with only a few scratches and breathes a bit better .

my opinion  a bit loud but a good unit

My GYTR muffler is nice and light, reasonable on noise, quiet for putting around but gets a bit louder on full throttle. I don't know if its road legal. They still come up in the TTR250 section online of the Y shop, Yamaha Aust site, so must still be available through Yamaha dealers. I read somewhere they were manufactured by TK, dunno if that's right or not..

That equates to nearly £400 Poundscry the Motads were half that price, sure I can get something sortedblankstare

I was looking for someone who had replaced the original silencer with an upmarket one. I am not looking to spend half the price of a bike for a silencer. I will have to keep looking obviously.
Thanks for all the input and suggestions.

Dibbster on here, said he had a Dominator on his TTR when I met him. I'd mentioned it would be interesting to get his review as they've been mentioned on the forum before, but noones taken the leap to get one.

He'd said he was impressed by it.

HI,

I was thinking that once my raid is back on the road I would look at changing the original for something else, but there's really not a lot of choice is there! I hope one of the motad ones might crop up at some point but I don't hold up much hope. I don,t really want to be too loud either, but never say never I suppose.

Have to wait until Steve gets on the case eh!

Interestingly, the exhaust in the pictures below was in the box of bits I got with my Raid, as far as I can find out they seem to be used on quad bikes and can be set up by adding / removing the plates on the tail pipe....

My ttr has that same muffler but it's the mega max 2. Its very loud but it sounds great. It adds power too. I would recommend it.

Already on my watch list but does anyone have any experience of them regarding noise levels ?

I found a bit on YouTube of this silencer but not on a TTR but sounded with a deep note but didn't seem to bark like others.

Sounded nice but maybe loud but tolerable.
