Brakes screaming.

i was out riding the other day and after about 30 minutes the rear brakes started squealing very loud when I used them. I pulled over and looked at the brakes to see if something got stuck between the caliper and the pads. There was nothing there but I noticed the brakes where very hot(duh). Does anyone else know if this is normal? ThanksĀ

They may have been binding on for some reason, causing build up of heat. The heat causes glazing of the pads, which then squeal.
Reasons for binding brakes:
-Piston seizing in the caliper
-Pads sticking on guide pins (unusual)
-Caliper slider pins seized (quite common)
-new boots putting pressure on the pedal without you realizing(!)
-incorrectly adjusted master cylinder actuator - not enough freeplay
I suggest a quick stripdown to check for seized piston or sliders...
Ride safe,
Simon.

Thanks, I'll check and see if the caliper is hanging up and not releasing. Also what do glazed pads look like?

Shiny, and probably cracked as well.
