Speedo drive/cable problem
Permalink

Hi the speedo stopped working so today had a look. . Spin cable at bottom and speedo needle moves . put a match in bottom pic up and it spun intermittently ie a couple of sparodic turns every turn of the wheel . Stripped and cleaned pic up and found the problem . The 3 tang washer had lost its flat sides ( see pic . Reshaped washer in vice and pressed back on .reassembled , tried match in , spinning nicely . Put cable back in speedo does not work . Could the drive have become rounded out ? The match is a bigger section than the cable seems to be ? Any ideas ?

I think the usual suspect are the two washers and the 3 pronged washer in the Speedo.

Mines recently stopped working and I'm gunna replace them and see what happens
