new genuine headlight does not fit , sale, swop

Hi all, as is the norm as soon as I bought my bike 2weeks ago, I bought loads of stuff, one being a new headlight. The previous owner had broken the lens but not the cowl. He has fitted an aftermarket unit.

I spotted a brand new light on ebay and bought it for £70 When it arrived it is too big. Looking at another thread I believe it to be for Australian or import models with the smaller cowl .

So where can I get the correct smaller lense and has anyone got one? And anyone want to buy this one form me?

Part number 4PX-84320-00 (the one I have) it comes with bracket, bulb and rubber .

Finally does anyone know the part number and dimension of the light I need.Mine is an 04 Uk blue tank. Cheers

I'd seen that one on eBay for quite a while!

I think the original ones with glass lenses are becoming like rocking horse poo.

I was in the same situation but managed to find one on eBay for a bargain
I think the lights from WR's are similar and will fit. Just takes a bit of trawling. Your best bet is to ask Torsten (Ridelimousin) as he had loads of spares for sale and might have one left.

Will have to think about that, as may be quite hard to sell.

Pity you haven't got the surround as, for road use, the Ozzy-style headlight is about the best - see http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t53263122/the-ultimate-ttr250-headlight-upgrade-another-unit-is-availa/

Has anyone a picture showing how the headlight fastens in here on a 04 uk bike? Or how it fastens to the bike?

Dom

You may find a photo or diagram to help in this thread http://ttr250.activeboard.com/t48039852/headlights-surrounds-types-bulbs-etc/

Does this extra photo help?

Headlight connector.jpg

Do you have the correct brackets on the yokes to take the unit? Something like these:

Or these:

Steve has a good range of brackets inc. the fixing bolts here https://estore-sslserver.eu/totallyttrs.com/epages/699105d9-e4cc-4b32-b236-84e72cd67f84.sf/en_GB/?ObjectID=1655063&ViewAction=FacetedSearchProducts&SearchString=headlight+bracket

Mine fit like this...

Which is a glass lens. Is the one above a plastic lens?

It certainly does. The brackets are there and the bolts . I have no lamp and Moo was trying to help me but fitting looked different? Your pics confirm. Does the bracket that surrounds the lamp come as part of the lamp?

I think Moo's headlight might be from a WR as the blue TTR headlight mask has an offset fixing at the bottom. See photo of an original TTR headlight mask below.

I am pretty sure that the light unit is one piece and the glass is bonded to the hinged frame.

Finally managed to get in the garage and get it hooked up.

The light I have works, see pictures of sidelight, low and main beam:

I am pretty sure its a glass lense, I tried to scratch it on the edge but had no joy at all!
