I NEED HELP! 1993 TTR250 Open Enduro with Raid motor?

Greetings from New Zealand!

Ok this is really confusing but does anyone know if any of the 1993 TTR-250 OPEN ENDURO model came with the Raid motor with the kickstart, oil cooler etc. My bike has these and I'm not too sure if its had them fitted or its from factory or if its even had an engine swap! Any reply will be useful

Cheers, Dan

Hi Dan

You should be able to check your numbers on the engine with your registration documents, to see if it has been swapped.

The Raid never came with a kicker and is exactly the same engine as the OE, lot's of people used to fit a kicker to their bikes. The Blue plastic tank bike was the only one to come with a kicker fitted.

Like Steve says: OE and Raid use the same motor. I think the oil cooler was an option. Kicker was available as a kit.
Pre 2000 models engine numbers begin 4GY, later Blueys begin 4PX (I think). The clutch case is also a giveaway - early = 6 plate clutch under a cover that has a sort of ring pattern, later = 7 plate and has Yamaha embossed on the clutch cover. (Take a look at the pics at the top of the page)
If she runs well, don't worry!
Ride safe,
Simon.

Mossproof is 100% correct. Oil coolers were factory options and kickstarts available as a kit - albeit a very expensive one!

Thanks for the help guys! I had a look like you suggested and its the standard motor that came with the bike just with all the extras the first owner could find. Will get a photo of it up on the forum sometime.

Cheers, Dan
