I bought this 2011 TTR250 with a meagre 800klms on the clock a few weeks back for a good price.    It's still fitted with the stock factory tyres and sprockets (14/44) which I intend to change soon.     I'm thinking for the style of riding I do which often involves very slow riding that I'd be best served by something like a 13/50 sprocket combination.   Does that sound like a good option? And for tyres, I thought something like 110/100x18 or 120/90x18 for the rear would be OK.  I suppose front tyres don't matter so much.   Any advice would be appreciated.

Great looking bike there! In terms of gearing i haven't tried top many combinations but as for the tyres both sizes are fine!

For slow riding 13 /50 will be spot on. I run 13/51 for 1st ,2nd and 3rd gear trails. Will still do 100kph in 6th no worries.

The kickstart is not there ?, not that you need to use it, I had mine from new for 4 years & only started it once with the kickstart just cause I could.

I dropped one tooth on the front 13/44. Most of my riding so far has been tight bush paths and sand whoops. No complaints. I am weary of dropping more though as I commute a ways to get to the play area. I will just change with the next step to a similar setup based on a 14 front.

I'm on 13/52.... was on 12/52 but the 12 was giving the chain slider a hard time..
13/52 works fine on mine but it never see's the road & the rekluse clutch loves it...

it will pic up the front just on the throttle...

When changing to a 13/52 combination how did you go with the chain guide?   Did you remove it completely or someone manage to drop it down lower ?

US spec bikes come with a 52 tooth factory. So getting that guide would be the easiest

I am running 13/44 and top out at 100km/h on power. 120km/h with a tail wind. Does the increase in torque with 13/48 maintain 100km/h or does it go into over rev?
