ok about three weeks ago I bought a pair of used wulf trials boots in good condition off ebay , and was just wondering what do you guys use to waterproof your boots. I have just coated mine in leder gris leather boot wax oil, and it seems ok and if anything the boots have gone a shade darker in colour . have any of  you tried this stuff  seemingly a lot of military people use it smile

Get some army goretex socks, then it doesnt matter

I have given up trying to waterproof my boots, having failed for 5 years! The damn things won't wear out to justify buying some new ones and I now just use Dexshell waterproof socks, which are fairly successful as long as I let the excess water out of the boots occasionally. The thermal lining stays dry inside so my feet stay warmer for longer and I don't get trenchfoot!

I've recently started using over the boot (Klim) riding pants. They are good for wet riding keep all but the worst of the water out of your boots, only the bottom part of your boots ever get muddy too.

And they are a bit gentler on your frame paint, they actually polish up the alloy frame on the WR.

I have read that sealskin socks are pretty good too, I will have a look on ebay for the klim pants thanks guys

Never had a pair of boots that were waterproof - even when new cry

I also use the long Sealskin socks and they work great - and are very comfortable  biggrin

I was just reading a post elsewhere on the web, warning of the dangers of aerosol waterproofing - ALWAYS WEAR A MASK when applying it - it can seal up the membranes in your lungs and stop you absorbing oxygen. Nasty.
I assume this doesn't apply to goretex treatments, which must surely be "breathable", but I'm not going to test the theory.

that sounds dodgy stuff what I used on my boots is stuff in a tin just like shoe polish
