Water / oil mix in oil breather line valve
Permalink

Hi all

My bike's PO told me to drain the valve on the oil breather line regularly.  I was worried it was due to blow by, but I checked it today - +/- a week since I checked it last and +/- 50km - and I found a milky, mostly water mix in the drain nipple(?).

If this was a water cooled engine I would be crapping myself.  Now I am just confused.  That is an awful amount of condensation.  Is this a normal thing?  It is our winter and the air has been moist.  I also hosed down the bike earlier this week - water from the airbox maybe?

Situation normal - I tend to empty it after every ride. Usually clear water in the summer but gets milky as the weather cools - not sure why confuse

Whew!  Weird though.  I am also getting lots more condensation in my silencer than any bike I ever owned.  Warm blooded beast?

Has anyone ever removed the valve?  Any benefit.  Is seems like extra weight with Californian purpose only.

I'd leave it in it also makes it harder to get water in and works to seal off the vent when sitting it's normal to accumulate water just dependent on the humidity as to how much
